As I know many of you don’t speak Dutch, here you’ll find all the important information on my page in English.
About colour analysis
Colour analysis empowers you to look any way you like, and make your life what you want it to be. The colours that we will select for you, will give you an almost unreal beauty. This looks very different from the everyday beauty seen in the media. The everyday beauty stems from a changing, hard-to-attain ideal, and costs a lot of money and hard work. And actually, it’s not even interesting: we’ve already seen it reproduced too often. And so the most we can seem to do, is look like everybody else.
No, I prefer this option! The pure beauty that is revealed by colour analysis, is profound, powerful, honest, open – and unforgettable. And it’s available to everybody. There’s no need to have a model’s proportions or perfect skin. Everything you need to be beautiful, is already inside you. It’s locked in the natural harmony of your skin tone, eyes and hair. The only thing we need to do, is discover what those colours are!
So I suggest we turn it around. Instead of adapting our bodies to the ideal that’s dictated to us, we start looking for the aesthetics that really lift us up. Colour is one of the simplest and most powerful ways to achieve this. As soon as you have the knowledge about your palette, nobody can tell you what to wear or how to do your makeup. Instead, you’ll be able to make choices that serve you – and that will pay you back a lifetime. This is what I like to achieve for you. You too?
How does it work?
Personal Colour Analysis (PCA) is a process during which we measure which colours are in perfect harmony with you. The 12Blueprints method is reliable and understandable, and is completely determined by the colour reactions of your skin. The palette you’ll take home was not picked by me, but by your own skin.
It starts with covering up your clothes and hair with a coat and hat in a special colour of grey that does not cast coloured reflections: so-called neutral grey. I too, wear a neutral grey coat to prevent colour disturbances. And when the daylight lamps are on, we can see what colours live inside you for the first time.
Next, we start to explore. The first drapes are the so-called Key Drapes. They are representatives of the large colour families: shiny golden yellow for Spring; silvery grey for Summer; dark, rich brown for Autumn, and inky black for Winter. We compare them to map out the reactions of your face. We’ll take our time here, to prevent making decisions too soon.
After that, we continue with different sets. Some compare several colours of the large families, other are designed to measure only colour heat level. By comparing two and choosing the best, we automatically hone in to the perfect palette. That way, there is no influence from my personal taste.
It’s not just the neutral grey and daylight lamps that allow for such accuracy. The most important part are the drapes.
The drapes are not some random pieces of cloth, but fabrics carefully selected by my teacher, and very experienced analyst, Christine Scaman (12Bluepritns, Canada). Together they are like a 3D puzzle. They were curated to be able to define the individual Seaons, or colour families, and also to be good representatives of everybody within that Season. They really are a specialist tool.
‘Undertone’ and ‘overtone’
Why does a colour analysis take so much time? Why can’t I just hold up a couple palettes next to your face, and we’ll see the right one straight away, right?
In theory, yes. In practice, no. It’s because the way our eyes work. Just try to match a coloured piece of paper or fabric scrap into a palette. It’s quite hard to do and usually takes several attempts. And that’s just a two-dimensional thing, never mind a living being. You are made up of many colours all at the same time, put together in 3D, with a beautifully complex skin texture. This results in an ‘overtone’ and ‘undertone’. The overtone is your literal skin colour. The undertone is the way your skin reacts to colours. Overtone can tells us very little about your palette, because the palette stems from your undertone. That’s why measuring undertone is such an elaborate process.
And if I may say something weird? We don’t even know what we really look like. Imagine, you meet me for your analysis, and at the end you’ll see yourself for the first time in your own colours. And you’ll see how beautiful you really are. The skin is calm, the three-dimensional structure of the face is evenly lit, the hair is shiny and the eyes have spectacular colour. Often, the sight inspires a profound silence where both of us witness the harmony. It’s always a special moment.
Luxury Drape session
The Test Drapes van 12Blueprints, like the name implies, are made to test with. The colours were carefully selected to represent the extremes of all the colour families. That’s why they work so well: they help us see colour reactions and learn what your colour harmony looks like. But they are less suitable to see what your palette looks like in real clothing.
That why I also have Luxury Drapes. Just like the Test Drapes, they match the palettes perfectly, but also are just really beautiful fabrics. They have more colours too, at least 15 per palette. Your favourites are bound to be included! With them, we can try numerous colour combinations and outfits.
Finding clothes, makeup and accessories that match your new fan, can be a little tricky the first couple of times. If you like to prevent wasting money and prefer to get it right from the start, I can help you. There’s two advantages: you will be able to pass up on clothes that will later prove to be poor matches, and I can find items for you that you probably would never have noticed.
Of course, I’ll keep in mind what shapes and styles suit you best, and above all your own taste.
